I have seen so many posts that look like this
Is this really the way we are supposed to write substack posts? Who decided that? Where did it come from? Show me the employee of Substack who created this template and decided they will foist this format on every writer on Earth now.
1. I suppose it does keep things organized?
Now I am starting to get Stockholm syndrome. Maybe this is the best way to write blog posts, or essays? Although, no, this wouldn’t be great for an essay. This reads more like a damn Buzzfeed article. Blech.
2. On the other hand…
It does keep things nicely organized I guess? Allows you the structure with which to formulate your thoughts and maybe even increases creativity by putting your thoughts and ideas into a list?
3. But damn you have to think of this many things
And what if your ideas don’t come out like that? What if your thoughts are just a stream of consciousness and a bunch of nonsense that can’t really be put into a neat little list?
4. Okay here the template is mentioning image and “subscribe” buttons
And I do admit, Substack is so much easier to use than Wordpress in this way. Wordpress is like some archaic piece of internet, almost more confusing to use even than Livejournal. I guess to be fair it’s more for people who are wanting to create a whole website for something? Not so much just for writers to write a damn essay or blog, or journal, which is what I have been using it for. It might as well be goddamn Square-space for how confusing and made-for-web-developers it is. I am not a web developer, I am a lowly writer, so, shocker, it’s confusing as hell for me. I love that Substack keeps it simple. You wanna put a button to help people Subscribe or give you money? Here is button. Want image? Here ya go.
